You CAN'T post a photo to Instagram from your Chromebook.

BUT

You CAN post to Instagram using their mobile site. As long as you have an account, this will let you

UPLOAD FROM THE BROWSER ON YOUR PHONE (no APP required).

  • Visit instagram.com on your mobile browser.
  • Ignore the prompt to open the page in the app.  Just "x" of this.
  • Click the camera (top left) to take a picture OR
    Click + (bottom center) to load an image from your camera's library.
    The more button will give you access to cloud photo storage options.
  • Select your photo and click next. 
  • Add your caption and share.  

NOTE: This method does not allow you to tag people

UPLOAD FROM YOUR COMPUTER OR CHROMEBOOK

You'll need to add the Chrome extension Mobile Browser Emulator

  • Go to instagram.com in your browser.
  • Click on the mobile browser extension
  • Choose the smallest size emulator size when you are working on the small Chromebook 
  • Ignore the prompt to open the app.  Just "x" of this.
  • Click the + button at the bottom center.  The camera button will not work, so you'll need to take your picture ahead of time and upload it to your Google Drive. 
  • Select your image from Google Drive and click next.
  • Add your caption and share.  

NOTE: This method does not allow you to tag people
